has such an abundance of beautiful foliage that it stands above all other Kangaroo Paw varieties.
Regal Velvet is a tough plant, capable of out-doing competing weeds, and its dense foliage requires less trimming than other Kangaroo Paws to keep it looking great.
Foliage grows up to 50cm, with the plant itself growing slightly higher flower than other Paws.
Ideally suited for mass plantings in landscaped gardens, or as a feature plan, Regal Velvet is a winner.
Flowers of Regal Velvet boast vivid reds, accented by strong greens. The flower stem usually grows between 1m to 1.4m high.
Tip: If located in a show garden, it's wise to remove older flowers late into summer, but if Regal Velvet is mass-planted (making it a difficult task), they can be left to decay naturally.
To reduce maintenance on mass plantings, one technique is to plant Regal Velvet behind a few rows of very, very low maintenance, making trimming optional.
